Salt Lake County operates 12 recreation centers, 17 aquatic centers, and 3 ice centers. The recreation centers all have unbelievable amounts of sports programs and activities for children. They offer baseball, basketball, swimming, football, soccer, gymnastics, ice skating, hockey, dance, martial arts, skating, skiing, snowboarding, track & field, racquetball, frisbee, golf, tennis, volleyball, wrestling, softball and tons of other programs for children & adults. *Alta and Snowbird offer residents a discount on season passes. You must go to the GME office and get proof of student status and purchase your ticket before Labor Day. Also, if you are looking to purchase equipment, you may want to check out Gart Sports Ski-a-Grab sale the week before Labor Day! You can get great prices on last year model skis!

Skiing (Nordic)

There are a multitude of wonderful trails in all the canyons. Among the most popular are Mill Creek Canyon (groomed weekly, follows road up canyon, small fee. Dogs allowed with restrictions); Mountain Dell Golf Course; Spruces Campground; This is the Place State Park; Rockport State Park (near Park City). Know what you are doing before setting out on your own; avalanches are common in these areas. There are avalanche safety classes available in the area as well.
