- The University of Utah has a great continuing education program, with something for everyone. You can pick up a catalog at their office at the University.
- The Salt Lake and Granite school districts have classes for both adults and children.
- Gallivan Utah Center schedules free noontime classes through Salt Lake Community Education.
- City Libraries have story times for children and various programs for adults. Check your local branch for listings.
- Westminster College offers night classes with financing available.
Entertainment
There is just about always some kind of festival or event going on in or near Salt Lake; watch the newspapers, including the free ones in stores and libraries, for information.
- Gallivan Utah Center "Salt Lake City's Outdoor Living Room" has various events scheduled year round; watch newspapers for information.
- Tower Theatre is Salt Lake City's art theater; look for the Tower Theatre Prevue movie guide in libraries and stores.
- Temple Square has the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, free concerts in Assembly Hall, Mormon Youth Chorus and Symphony and Organ Recitals.
- Salt Lake City has the Utah Symphony Orchestra, Ballet West, Utah Opera Company, Ririe Woodbury Modern Dance Company, Repertory Dance Theater, a host of local theater companies, Comedy Circuit, and many touring performers and shows. Discount tickets are often available through the university. Check the housestaff newsletter for what is available.
- Professional sports teams include the Utah Jazz, Grizzlies, Salt Lake Stingers & Utah Blitz.. The Delta Center, E-Center, Kingsbury Hall & USANA Amphitheater all host music concerts

Salt Lake County operates 12 recreation centers, 17 aquatic centers, and 3 ice centers. The recreation centers all have unbelievable amounts of sports programs and activities for children. There are a multitude of wonderful trails in all the canyons. Among the most popular are Mill Creek Canyon (groomed weekly, follows road up canyon, small fee. Dogs allowed with restrictions); Mountain Dell Golf Course; Spruces Campground; This is the Place State Park; Rockport State Park (near Park City). Know what you are doing before setting out on your own; avalanches are common in these areas. There are avalanche safety classes available in the area.
